Projects

This is the page that displays any projects, papers, or opportunities that I have worked on pertaining to my major or minor that demonstrate the abilities I have gained through my four years and eight semesters at James Madison University.

Enjoying Music

Music Therapy

and Dementia

In my Rhetorical Reading and Writing class Freshman Year, we dedicated our semester to studying one topic. The topic I chose to study was music therapy and its affect on dementia patients.

The Fragility of Eyewitness Testimony

The Psych major at JMU requires us to take a methodology sequence before we do anything content-wise in the major. As part of my Psychological Research Design and Data Analysis class, we were assigned an Independent Research Study that we were to conduct with a few other classmates. My group chose to study eyewitness testimony and how it is affected by time and misleading questions.

My Introductory Field Placement

I spent 80 hours working with the staff at the Arc of Harrisonburg and was able to experience what it is like to be involved with a company that has Psychology at its roots. I spent over 100 hours there and had a wonderful time, but it did bring to my attention that while I would volunteer there in a heartbeat, I would rather work in a different field of psychology. The picture is of myself and the poster I created to summarize my time at the Arc for the Psychology Symposium at JMU.

MUI 422

MUI 422 is a class that I took for my Music Industry Minor, "Concert Production and Promotion." As part of the class, we formed a mock business called Karmic Lemon Productions. The purpose of the class was to understand the process that goes into raising enough money in order to be able to pay talent to perform in shows that we arranged. We arranged four different shows over the semester as well as some fundraisers. It was an amazing experience that taught me many lessons.

Artist Manager Interview

For my Artist Management class, myself and a partner were tasked with interviewing an actual personal manager for an artist. My partner and I were blessed with the opportunity to interview Mark DiDia for the project; I myself conducted the interview over Zoom. Mark manages Counting Crows, the Black Crowes, 3 Doors Down, Dirty Honey, and Mac Saturn. I was so thrilled to be able to speak with him and my partner and I had a blast writing our paper on the conversation! (As I did not ask to use a picture of him, I chose to omit him from the photo used for this project out of respect.)

Clinical Conceptualization Case Study

For my Clinical Psychology Class, I was tasked with the responsibility of picking a fictional character to Interview, Assess, Diagnose, and Treat for a paper Clinical Conceptualization paper. The paper was divided into three sections: Clinical Interview, Assessment and Diagnosis, and Treatment Plan. Our final step was to convert our paper into a 10 minute presentation for the class. This paper gave me the opportunity to become comfortable with what information I would want to glean from an interview, the process of researching the best assessment tools, and researching what forms of therapy I thought would best suit my client.
